Embracing Jesus as King is Radical, Risky, and Rewarding
>God is not religious.
As the gospel is again proclaimed and believed, it will again produce some wide-eyed, radical, and dangerous people.
I believe each one of you want to be a part of this revolution that is on the move today.
>God has not called us to have just converts, but dedicated disciples!
There is a spiritual revolution going on right now. Large numbers of people are becoming more committed to being the church and less content with merely going to church. Have you joined the revolution?
I.Radical
What words would you use today to describe Western Christianity?
>I am convinced that Jesus was not about producing domesticated, nice people.
>He was looking for the radical.
>Original Christianity was passionate, powerful, rebels and radicals. It was a lifestyle that was neither institutionalized nor controlling.
>When we exchanged the passion and power for comfort and acceptability, we became just another world religion.
>The life that Jesus promises us is not one of ease and all comfort, but a life of meaningfulness.
>Men, in general, feel out of place in our westernized church. The church has become more feminized. Statistics bear this out. It’s like 75-25% women to men.
>Someone once said that it is a woman’s club with male officers.
>Thank God for the women or else the church would be dried up.
- Worship has often been feminized.
- The focus has been on nature versus destiny.
>God is touching the hearts of men and women today; offering an opportunity to be a part of something that’s not a domesticated, tame religion. It is a movement called the Kingdom of God is here.
>No man, if given the choice, would choose to die in a retirement center. They want to die with a tool in their hand, a plan on the desk, a vision in their heart, and a son to carry on.
≈We are seeing a radical change!
>Gideon is one of those radicals in the Bible. Gideon started out like everyone else. He feared for his future, grumbled about his present, and wanted to escape from the past. Yet he was destined to rise up in God and change not only his own life, but the history of his nation!
Judges 6:12 – “And the angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, ‘The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!’”
>The word “valor” includes the idea of possessing other resources besides courage in battle, such as wealth, virtue, strength, or even an army.
> Something supernatural had begun in Gideon. The creative power of these words filled him with the strength to see the invisible, hear the inaudible, and do the unthinkable.
> The same thing happens to any of us who are bold enough to receive God’s Word. When we hear the inaudible, it creates the courage and strength within us to do the unthinkable.
> Gideon went on to lead an army of only 300 men to defeat the huge armies of the Midianites. God has spoken on using everyone of us-regardless of our condition when He first finds us. Gideon is an example of how each one of us can become a revolutionary, radical believer.
II. Risky
What words would you use today to describe Western Christianity?
- This life is for investing.
- John the Baptist did not get delivered, but he fulfilled his assignment. (Matthew 11:3-15)
- The “others” in Hebrews 11:32-38 are heroes too.
- John didn’t get out of prison.
- Jesus never said we have a call of ease but we have a call of purpose.
* Young people are looking for risky, daring things to do. Well, being a New Testament Christian, in its true sense, is risky and dangerous.
III. Rewarding
>We can live in the Kingdom of God while we are still here.
1. We can see the invisible!
John 3:3
- You have eyes in your heart
- You have a mind in your heart
- You can see that which those who are not of the Spirit cannot see.
- It’s not so much visions and dreams; you see meaning to things that others do not see.
- You look at history and instead of seeing facts interpreted by man, you see a story told by God. You see a story that makes sense.
- The things that happen in life are not just random. They are things that God has in His hand doing to honor His Son and bless us.
- You see the Kingdom.
2. We can hear the inaudible!
Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice.”
- You hear things that you couldn’t hear otherwise.
- As born again Christians and one of His sheep, you can hear His voice!
- The problem is in trusting His voice. He is telling us lots of things.
- You may be so tuned to another station that you keep drowning it out.
- The more we trust that voice that we hear, the more confident we become.
- Have you seen confident, bold believers? You wish you could do that.
- When you operate on information that came from God, it gives you confidence.
- We can hear the inaudible as part of the Kingdom of God.
- If you don’t hear His voice, use the wisdom you have from God.
3. We can do the unthinkable!
Because we can see the invisible and hear the inaudible, we can do the unthinkable.
- Martin Luther was a small monk, bored with religion, nailed those 95 theses to the door and started the Great Reformation.
- David Wilkerson, famed with The Cross and the Switchblade heard God’s voice to go to New York City.
- Many no-names, like you, can change a world by seeing the invisible, hearing the inaudible, and doing the unthinkable.
- It doesn’t mean you have to have some great strategy. Just do what you’ve been told.
- When we are doing what God told us to do, we will have spring in out step, a voice of laughter and praise, an attitude of victory- no matter what.
- When we are doing what God has assigned us to do, we are doing the unthinkable.
- We are impregnated with the imperishable seed of God’s word. We cannot be satisfied with religion.
- Let the flame of fire be fanned inside of you tonight until it burns hot, so that you are operating by passion, not by obligation.
- Do you want a Radical, Risky, Rewarding religion to reveal the glory of God right now on this earth?
- The revolution is on- are you brave enough to join?
